Brainy Quote: research motivation today

If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?
Albert Einstein

The great question that has never been answered, and which I have not yet been able to answer, despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, is "What does a woman want?"
Sigmund Freud

Research is starting to show that a child should be engaged at least 20 hours a week. I do not think it matters which program you choose as long as it keeps the child actively engaged with the therapist, teacher, or parent for at least 20 hours a week.
Temple Grandin

Research has shown that a barren environment is much more damaging to baby animals than it is to adult animals. It does not hurt the adult animals the same way it damages babies.
Temple Grandin

I notice increasing reluctance on the part of marketing executives to use judgment; they are coming to rely too much on research, and they use it as a drunkard uses a lamp post for support, rather than for illumination.
David Ogilvy

Advertising people who ignore research are as dangerous as generals who ignore decodes of enemy signals.
David Ogilvy

Research is creating new knowledge.
Neil Armstrong

In much of society, research means to investigate something you do not know or understand.
Neil Armstrong

If you steal from one author it's plagiarism; if you steal from many it's research.
Wilson Mizner

In a prime-time address, President Bush said he backed limited federal funding for stem cell research. That's right, the President said, this is a quote, the research could help cure brain diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and whatever it is I have.
Conan O'Brien

We need your help. I need your help. We need money for research. It may not save my life. It may save my children's life. It may save someone you love. And it's very important.
Jim Valvano

And I'm going to work as hard as I can... for cancer research and hopefully, maybe, we'll have some cures and some breakthroughs. I'd like to think I'm going to fight my brains out to be back here again next year for the Arthur Ashe recipient. I want to give it next year!
Jim Valvano

And I really do think that the difficulty of research makes it more real to you than punching a thing to find out how many men were killed at this particular action.
Shelby Foote

I see myself as a true modernist. Even when I do a traditional gown, I give it a modern twist. I go to the past for research. I need to know what came before so I can break the rules.
Vera Wang

Research your idea. See if there's a demand. A lot of people have great ideas, but they don't know if there's a need for it. You also have to research your competition.
Magic Johnson

Corporate partners help UNICEF fund our programmes for children, advocate with us on their behalf, or facilitate our work through logistical, technical, research or supply support.
Carol Bellamy

The federal government has sponsored research that has produced a tomato that is perfect in every respect, except that you can't eat it. We should make every effort to make sure this disease, often referred to as 'progress', doesn't spread.
Andy Rooney

I basically did all the library research for this book on Google, and it not only saved me enormous amounts of time but actually gave me a much richer offering of research in a shorter time.
Thomas Friedman

There is no substitute for face-to-face reporting and research.
Thomas Friedman

Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose.
Zora Neale Hurston

Website VS Blog ; Why should I choose Blog over Website?

Blog and website are two different ways of sharing information or communication method yet they two provide almost the same stand and function; to provide people whatever they need whether it is information, product or even services. Nowadays, as you can see and based on my own experiences, blog and website is a common things that every person should have.

Blog for example can allow you to share information and creative opinion throughout the world and you can even create a blog in order to earn some commission through a specific program, but that is not the question around here. Our topic for discussion will be focused on which is better or which is overpower which?

There are a lot of questions that been asked by people regarding this topic. For example:

Blog benefits and advantages over a website? Which is the best?

Before we through the topic let me enlist some of the information regarding the blog and the website and some of the features that they have.

The following explains the basic differences between a blog and a website:

Blog
– Content is regularly updated.
- Not formal.
- Interactive.
- Informative and educational.
- Interactivity about industry/customer issues.
- Some people have a blog.

Website
– Content is static.
- Formal/professional.
- Interactivity does not exist. There is only one-way communication.
- Transactional.
- Communication about products and/or services.
- Almost everyone has a website. In fact, it is almost a requirement in business today.

In this talk, the role of social media in academic reputation will be discussed. For academics, social media is a new media is a new way to rapidly disseminate their research work and enhance their online presence. The use of the new media has to be carefully managed to avoid pitfalls.

In this workshop, tips will be given on how to utilize conventional social networking platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to integrate with the new generation of reference managers. In addition to discussions on CiteULike, Mendeley and Zotero, Prof Chan will demonstrate the use of Wizfolio to create an online presence by coupling with the new media.

Transform the "library" into a "learning commons" Libraries are crucial in this age of abundant information, but only if they provide relevant support for those actively navigating the digital environment:
The LC is a one-stop study-shop that combines research, IT and learning support services under one roof to enhance the student experience

"Highly collaborative & integrated learning environment"
Learning Commons is a library technology center with collaborative spaces and interactive resources.
"The Learning Commons is designed with students in mind, and the space is structured as a student would lay out a study area, with pertinent resources close at hand

The area will support students' academic success by integrating information, computing and tutoring services to provide students with the resources required for group and individual educational projects and activities.

"The Learning Commons will be a bright and inviting place, full of computers and people to help with all levels of research.

In the Learning Commons, students will find electronic and print information resources, along with reference librarians to provide research consultation and assistance.

Computer workstations will offer an array of software applications and multimedia devices for the production of projects, papers, presentations, or other coursework and assignments.

Technical assistance will also be available for computing questions or problems.

Hadir sama, Ketua Pegawai Operasi Nasim Sdn. Bhd. (Nasim), Datuk Samson Anand George dan Pengarang Kumpulan The New Straits Times Sdn. Bhd., Datuk Syed Nadzri Syed Harun.
